My Caregiver & Me Program
In addition to enhancing the bond of mother and child, the program allows positive parenting and provides a fun and loving memory for moms and their children.
Studies have shown that helping a child maintain a bond with their incarcerated parent contributes to a successful family integration upon release. Mothers who maintain contact with their children are less likely to recidivate than women who do not maintain contact.
A child-friendly play area has been furnished in one corner of the visiting center, along with an assortment of toys and games purchased by A Sacred Place. Volunteers, both incarcerated women and people form the community, facilitate craft projects with the mothers and their children.
Hundreds of women and children have participated in a volunteer facilitated craft activity during extended visitation held every other month.

A Sacred Place, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization dedicated to providing rehabilitative programs and educational opportunities for incarcerated women in Connecticut.
