To swim to the distant shore of endurance
Journey to self-discovery
Walk the road to recovery
Despite suffering from self-inflicted wounds
Despite spasms of doubt in our hearts
Despite sins from our past
Somehow we find the strength
to endure, to survive, to live.” -m

Sacred Sweats
Women are often released after years of incarceration with only the clothing that was on them at arrest. Most often those clothes no longer fit or are inappropriate. With your help ASP provides new simple sweat-suits for women being released.
Sacred Sweeties
With your donations ASP provide gift bags full of baby supplies for York CI moms who give birth at L&M Hospital, New London. The crocheted critters (with donated yarns) are all lovingly crafted by our incarcerated women and added to the Sacred Sweeties gift bag.

Greetings and Blessings!
As the Executive Director for A Sacred Place, Inc., I am pleased to be part of a volunteer non-profit program bringing hope and light to an almost invisible group of women even in our times. Incarcerated women – many of them single mothers, poor, afflicted and addicted, are in dire need of assistance to help them heal, stand up and refocus their lives, especially before they are released.
We of A Sacred Place provide proven programs for incarcerated women at York Correctional Institution in Niantic, Connecticut.
Our programs are offered in an atmosphere that respects all individual backgrounds and faith traditions of our participants. Our programs work! And, our participants work hard! Graduates from A Sacred Place have one of the lowest recidivism rates in the USA.
Each year tighter Connecticut budget constraints for York (CI) threaten volunteer program resources. But miracles of grace do occur, especially through donations, for this vulnerable population – and with your help, they will continue.
Contact us for more information on how you can help. Donations are always needed to fund our programs and resources. Volunteers from all backgrounds are welcome to join us as facilitators, mentors and program providers.
And, always, please keep incarcerated women, their families and this work in prayer!
Peace!
